Description
This Vintage New Old Stock Lapel Pin is die struck and expertly crafted. This pin was a token of appreciation given to every American service member who was honorably discharged during and after World War II for service between September 1939 and December 1946. This “Badge of Service,” nicknamed “Ruptured Duck,” was designed by Anthony de Franisci for the War Department. The design consists of an eagle perched within a ring and is worn as a civilian suit lapel button. This same design was used as a cloth insignia (1-1/2 inches high by 3 inches wide for wear on the uniform) for all who were permitted to wear their uniform after being discharged. The pin features an antique brass finish. Pin comes with a standard butterfly clasp and pin back.-
